SWATCHSCAPE: MORGAN TAYLOR STREET BEAT COLLECTION

Summer is coming, even if Spring won’t appear, and we can’t wait for bright, summery polishes for nail art and pedicures. Our swatcher, Emily, has watched and thoroughly reviewed the new Morgan Taylor Street Beat Collection, which also comes in matching Gelish shades.

Here is Emily’s review of the PR sample we received of the Street Beat Collection from Morgan Taylor:

Morgan Taylor Street Beat collection has four polishes with contrasting shimmers and two cream polishes. The two creme polishes are thinner than usual for Morgan Taylor but still easy to apply. The four polishes with shimmer were more like the formula we’re used to – nice and viscous but not too thick to work with. Once you put top coat on the four shimmers, they become completely different colors. As always for Morgan Taylor, the brushes are a perfect size and the bristles are soft, making application nice and easy.

Give Me a Break-Dance is a beautiful teal polish with greenish shimmer, and when it hits the light just right it is GORGEOUS. This is one of my favorite in the collection because it’s unique. I can always find a teal shimmery polish but I have a much harder time finding a teal polish with a contrasting shimmer. I got full coverage in two coats.

MORGAN TAYLOR STREET BEAT COLLECTION SWATCHES

B-girl Style is a barbie pink color with blueish-purple shimmer. This is shown in two coats. I did find a dupe for this that I had, China Glaze Pink Voltage is pretty similar to this color, but it is a little brighter than this pink. B-girl Style has the least amount of shimmer in the collection.

Tag, You’re It is a hot neon pink polish with a slight blueish shimmer, although there is noticeable less shimmer in this polish than the other three shimmers in this collection. It still has the same great formula and I got full coverage in two coats. I also found a dupe for this one, OPI Hotter Than You Pink is a lot like this one, but it has more shimmer than this polish.

Street Cred-ible is a sunflower yellow color, although it is more neon than a sunflower. This polish is very thin for a creme by Morgan Taylor. This is shown in three coats, two thin and one thicker coat for full coverage, with just the two coats you could still see the whites of my nails. If you’re wanting a bright polish this is the one to get though, you can see the halo of reflection around most cuticles!

Cou-tour The Streets is an almost bubble gum pink. Its a very soft color, almost pastel but not quite. It’s a nice break in the collection from all the bright colors if you have a day where neon just doesn’t go. This was also thin, but since it is a little darker than Street Cred-ible it has better coverage. It only took two normal coats to get full coverage.

And my absolute favorite of the entire collection is Hip Hot Coral, and it is exactly what the name says. It is a hot coral color with contrasting golden shimmer and I just love the amount of contrast this polish has compared to the others. I wouldn’t normally put coral and gold together but they actually look really nice together, especially in the sun. This shows two coats for full coverage. I also found a dupe for this one, Peace, Love & Polish by Color Club. The Color Club has more golden shimmer which gives the polish a more peachy color where as this one has a good amount but still looks very pink/coral.
