Fall means dark colors. Fall means sweaters and boots and a hint of pumpkin spice sprinkled on almost every food item from September 1 to December 15th. Fall manis mean nails turn from Summer brights to muted tones of burnt sienna and raw umber. Which is lovely, and definitely works for us 99% of the time. 5 FALL MANICURES THAT BREAK ALL THE RULES
But we’re rule breakers.
Here are five Fall mani looks that break every rule in the book.
Rule 1: No more brights after Labor Day
Bring brights to Fall with fuchsia, purple, and bright yellows. Above, our lovely model is wearing Morgan Taylor “Prettier In Pink.” You can take this in any direction for Fall, since the season itself is a transition. There are several gorgeous brights in the Fall collections from Morgan Taylor, Cuccio, and OPI. We’ve picked our favorites below:
Rule #2: Nudes Are Boring
Nude nails don’t have to be boring! Keeping things on the rosier end of the spectrum means you can have a mani that matches everything but is also interesting. We like these rosey nudes from Young Nails, Deborah Lippman, and ORLY.
Rule #3 Black and super dark nails are for Halloween
Black nails are chic, no matter the season. End of story. Wear black nails year round, loud and proud. Add a bit of micro glitter or shimmer, and you’ve got a party. Lots of people are wearing black under their chrome and unicorn nails, so you could say it’s THE color for Fall. Our go-to inky polishes are these from China Glaze, OPI, and Cuccio:
Rule #4 Metallics are for holiday only
What’s better than a shimmery, shiny nail in the sunlight? Not much. We’re rocking metallics in the Fall, for sure. When clothing gets cozier, we love a good metal like silver or gold against earth tones. Our favorites this season from CND and China Glaze.
Rule #5 Blue and purple are for teens
Who came up with these rules anyway? Blues and purples are some of our favorite Fall hues. What looks better with the first PSL of the season than a gorgeous blue manicure? It’s all about contrasting tones, people. Here are our picks for this color family from China Glaze, SpaRitual, and Cuccio:
